Slough Taekwon-do Club was established in 1979 by two Singapore Chinese brothers, Toh Kok Leong and Toh Kok Sum, who came to study at Slough College.  Whilst in Slough they met up with some martial arts enthusiasts and  Slough Taekwon-do Club was formed.  The Club was very popular amongst young budding martial artists from the local community, and between 1979-1984 the Club produced several Regional, National and International Taekwon-do Champions.

However one of the brothers then returned to Singapore and the other ventured in to the restaurant business and the Club was disbanded.  A few hardcore members reassembled and resumed training in a multi storey car park in Slough High Street.  The group then began to hire out a hall at the local sports centre, with the highest grades taking turns in teaching their fellow students.

They then requested Toh Kok Sum to return as Chief Instructor, however due to work commitments this was not a permanent solution.  Eventually Toh Kok Sum invited a Fifth Dan Korean Master from Kenya to take over the Club.  The Club again flourished and re-established itself as the leading Taekwon-do Club in the United Kingdom.  The Korean Master taught until 1993, however due to unforeseen circumstances the Club again went in to decline.

Eventually the Club was revived by one of the founding members, Robbie Lazan, who was elected to be the Chief Instructor by his fellow students in 1993.  The Club struggled financially to regain its former status as no real structure had been established in previous years.  After many years of restructuring and reconciliation  the Clubs position as a bonified organization was established and now Slough Taekwon-do Club is a recognized organization within the Berkshire catchment.

Regardless of all the trials and tribulation Slough Taekwon-do Club proudly celebrated  25 years in Taekwon-do in 2004 and to date remembers all those who refused to give up and pushed the Club forwards.
